JOB DESCRIPTION

Evaluate, select, develop and manage suppliers of purchased productive items by carrying out audits and using quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CEP, MSA, 8D), thus ensuring the receipt of products in accordance with specifications and Cummins Meritor standards. Support production with quality problems related to purchased products with the aim of ensuring the normal flow of production and the use of products within project specifications, avoiding line stoppages and customer dissatisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Approve new suppliers and products by carrying out system and process audits on potential suppliers with the aim of qualifying suppliers that meet Cummins Meritor needs (quality, delivery, price, etc.).
  • Define/clarify technical and quality requirements by participating in pre-supply meetings in order to reduce technical doubts and ensure that new developments meet Cummins Meritor requirements.
  • Approve the supplier’s production process by carrying out evaluation/monitoring of the production process and critical analysis of the PPAP documentation in order to ensure that the supplier has the capacity to supply products within the quality, delivery and price requirements defined by Cummins Meritor. (when possible at the supplier’s plant in order to suggest process changes and explain any process doubts).
  • Management of the quality of the purchased product by defining an inspection plan and frequency to be adopted by the receiving inspector, thus ensuring that the product received complies with Meritor specifications.
  • Coordinate containment action and, when applicable, notify the supplier about the occurrence of non-conformity, requesting definition of the root cause and corrective action for the non-conformity, issuing a formal complaint (DMN/NMDE) ensuring that the process is reestablished and returns to production according to specifications.
  • Supply the ORACLE system with information regarding the supplier’s performance by inputting data/information allowing critical analysis of its indicators.
  • Carry out a specific audit of the supplier’s production process through the audit checklist, ensuring that the process is robust enough to maintain the quality of the products manufactured.
  • Support production through process monitoring, streamlining suppliers’ containment and corrective actions with the aim of avoiding production stoppages and end customer dissatisfaction.
  • Generate cost indicators caused by suppliers due to the supply of non-conforming products through the issuance of CNCF, thus allowing costs to be recovered.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Manufacturing processes (casting, forging, stamping, machining, etc.)
  • Office pack
  • Reading and interpretation of drawings and GT&D;
  • Quality management systems (ISO, VDA, TS standards);
  • Quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CEP, MSA, 8D-MSP; etc.);
  • Measurement processes (caliper, micrometer, etc.);
  • Desirable knowledge in metallurgy;
  • Leadership and good communication;
  • Conducting audits;
  • Driving vehicles and availability of possible trips;
  • Advanced English.
  • VDA 6.3 training with active and official proof is desirable.
  • IATF auditor with official proof is desirable.

Academic Training/Certification:

  • Mechanical Technician or higher education in Administration and/or Mechanical Engineering, Production, Mechatronics.
