Global Merchant Services (GMS) Marketing is dedicated to bringing buyers and sellers together and transforming how American Express is welcomed. GMS Marketing is responsible for partnering with GMS markets to drive profitable growth, accelerate Merchant acceptance and enhance the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants and Card Members at scale. We focus on enhancing our relationships with millions of Merchants of all shapes and sizes, and our geographic purview includes many commerce hubs across the globe including the U.S, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The position is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual looking to develop their marketing skills and accelerate coverage within a fast-paced, European marketing team.

The role sits within the GMNS Regional European Marketing organisation and is responsible for the planning and execution of regulatory projects (Terms and Conditions updates, pricing change notifications, application forms, etc.) and communicating to merchants across the Europe. Ensuring merchants are notified about upcoming changes is an integral part of ensuring American Express adheres to ever changing regulatory landscape. You will work in close partnership with teams from across the organisation as well as external agencies (printers, creative) to develop and execute project plans.

How will you make an impact in this role?

European Regulatory topics (30%)

  • Partner with European project stakeholders to manage timelines and processes for communicating changes to merchants, ensuring messaging is customer focused, and all marketing processes and customer touch points are included
  • Manage end-to-end process of European regulatory communications: Manage the day-to-day relationship with creative agencies, translation agencies and printers. Partner with the marketing teams to support on translations for key projects, including streamlining current translation processes. Partner with local market teams to share projects, assess timelines and work through approvals. Effectively utilise project budgets.

 UK Regulatory topics (30%)

  • Partner with UK project stakeholders to manage timelines and processes for communicating changes to merchants, including ensuring messaging is customer focused, and all marketing processes and customer touch points are included
  • Manage end-to-end process of UK regulatory communications: Manage the day-to-day relationship with creative agencies and printers. Partner with local market teams to share projects, assess timelines and work through approvals. Effectively utilise project budgets.
  • As a Consumer Duty reviewer and approver, become a subject matter expert in the FCA’s Consumer Duty regulation. Review and approve all UK GMS Merchant facing marketing materials to ensure they deliver good customer outcome.

 Manage Privacy communications projects (15%)

  • Ensure support to markets to help projects in place to ensure we optimize the way we capture marketing preferences for American Express merchants. Help the local teams as and when need be (especially for multi market initiatives).
  • Provide support to regional team on other multi market initiatives (15%) such as marketing initiatives or other temporary initiatives like budget coordination.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • University Degree (or equivalent experience) preferably in marketing Language Skills – Preferable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in building and leveraging strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (including senior leadership), colleagues and external agencies and the ability to manage multiple projects across functions & geographies
  • Detail oriented, highly organised with strong time management skills
  • Self-starter: ability to innovate and openly share insights and new ideas
