Full job description
The Staff Accountant role will report to the Supervisor and Manager of Accounting Operations and will oversee the quality and accuracy of the financial statements for a leading global provider of high-quality educational services. The position will have a clear understanding of the company’s financial systems and processes to ensure compliance with GAAP, relating but not limited to revenue recognition and period expenses. The key accounting functions of the position include journal entry preparation, month-end close procedures, financial statement analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. The position will also work in conjunction with team leaders to achieve team goals and deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities:

Preparation and posting of standard and adjusting journal entries

Review and analyze revenue reports for accuracy in accordance with GAAP

Perform month-end close processes and meet all deadlines
-
Interact with field personnel to ensure subsidiary ledger and financial statement accuracy

Financial statement review including detailed variance analysis of profit and loss and balance sheet statements

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate/resolve reconciling items
-
Assist with audit requests
-
Ensure proper internal controls are maintained for corporate and field financial processes

Complete special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, certified public accountant or CPA track a plus

1+ years of accounting experience

Professional, well-polished verbal and written communication skills
-
Self-starter with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
-
Strong attention to detail and quality
-
Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications. Intermediate Excel skills required

Oracle general ledger application experience

The salary range for the Operations Staff Accountant role is currently between $58,000 – $62,000 and the amount that is offered is based on the candidate’s skills, experience and education, among other factors determined by the business. It is within Kaplan’s discretion to adjust this range based on business needs.
