Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits seeks a Category Development Manager. The Category Development Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping our companys success by providing strategic insights and data-driven recommendations. Expertise in market analysis, consumer behavior, and category management will drive growth and optimize sales strategies within our strategic chain accounts.
Location is flexible but must be in the Eastern or Central time zone.

Responsibilities
- Thought Leadership: Be the thought leader in the Wine and Spirits industry, deliver insightful analysis on trends, conduct deep analytics, and set high standards for business analyses across the DFWS portfolio. Passionate about category and consumer insights, sharing knowledge broadly, and fostering credibility and influence while seeking innovative ways to support business analysis.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies for Pennsylvania and Florida based Retail chains. Ensure analyses are completed on time and meet high-quality standards, while seamlessly integrating various data sources (syndicated data, panel, depletions, NABCA, COGNOS, primary & secondary research) to create compelling and quantifiable selling stories. Take ownership of business performance results and provide clear explanations and actionable recommendations.
- Proactive Collaboration and Analysis: Highly collaborative relationship with sales, sharing a common sense of urgency and engaging in performance discussions, while regularly attending sales calls and market visits to understand opportunities from planning through execution. Curious and proactive in analyzing monthly performance, leading conversations with stakeholders, and providing proactive guidance and performance recommendations, ensuring follow-through on identified opportunities.
- Reporting and Communication: Consistently set a high standard in all aspects of work, including communications, reports, projects, and presentations, while maintaining a proactive can do attitude that goes beyond the minimum requirements. Prepare regular reports on category performance, market trends and KPIs. Present findings to key stakeholders, including retailers and internal senior management. Collaborate with marketing and sales team to align on selling stories and strategies.
- Project Management: Manage projects and priorities, with a structured process for planning and executing customer meetings, including kickoff meetings, check-ins, and post-meeting debriefs. Meet deadlines and produce high-quality work, using a system to review performance and receive feedback from managers and stakeholders. Conduct regular post-promotional reviews to identify root causes of success or failure, translating learnings into actionable insights and sharing recaps with retailers to build rapport and influence future outcomes.

Qualifications:
- Self-motivated professional with 5-10 years category management experience in CPG or syndicated research technology (Circana/ACN)
- Tendency to be a proactive self-starter and with drive to take ownership of projects and see through to completion
- Demonstrate ability to visualize complex data problems in a clear, concise and compelling manner
- Comfortable presenting ideas and concepts; ability to actively participate and contribute to a cross-functional team environment
- Understanding of Circana/Nielsen syndicated data and Consumer Panel data NABCA knowledge preferred
- Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- Experience working with multiple retail environments highly preferred
- Knowledge of Beverage Alcohol Industry highly desirable
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Location flexible Eastern or Central time zone required
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
